Kano 2027: ‘Governor Yusuf is behind the omission of our name,’ alleges NDC candidate Gwarzo

Aminu Gwarzo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) gubernatorial candidate in Kano State, accused Governor Abba Yusuf of arranging the omission of NDC candidates from the state’s list of political parties. Speaking on Trust TV on Tuesday, he said the party had followed due process with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and alleged the omission was intended to confuse voters and disenfranchise supporters across the state’s 44 local government areas. Gwarzo urged INEC and security agencies to intervene and said the party would pursue legal means to have its name restored and contest the 2027 election. The Kano State Government had not responded by the time the report was filed.

2026 Supplementary Finance Bill: Alfonse Mané Samb challenges budget projections and denounces cuts to social projects

He argued that low execution of investment spending could allow expenditures to be cut by about 450 billion CFA francs and the deficit improved by 1.6 to 2 percentage points. He denounced cuts to major water-transfer projects, whose funding fell from 50 billion to 8 billion CFA francs, and the removal of funding for 35 health centers and works involving 46 elementary schools and 46 middle schools. Samb also called for greater transparency on debt and the deficit and for lawmakers to receive all documents needed to review the bill.
